WATER
Domestic Water Supply
The Preserve at Millerton is served by seven wells that extract water from deep granite fissures in the underlying geology that flows down from the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The wells treat the extracted water to the State of California Drinking Water Standards. NMWC has plans to add additional wells in the future.
The Preserve’s water system is independent and separate from the surrounding developments in both Madera and Fresno Counties that source their drinking water from the Millerton Reservoir. Since The Preserve’s water is sourced from the deep fissure wells, the water provided to our residents does not have the quality and contamination issues often associated with Millerton Reservoir.
NMWC is responsible for water quality testing, as well as monitoring water volume in the storage tanks. We are also responsible for ensuring that all fire hydrants are operational and have sufficient water pressure at all times to support fire suppression.
Water Quality Reporting
NMWC provides a safe and dependable supply of drinking water to our customers. We test all drinking water for many constituents as required by state and federal regulations. The frequency of the testing depends on the contaminate. The results of these tests are published in our Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) that are distributed to each customer annually. If you have any questions regarding the CCR or would like to request a physical copy, please contact us.
NMWC adds chlorine to all water delivered to customers to ensure the safety of the water supply. Chlorine is a disinfectant that effectively treats both bacteria and viruses. Chlorine levels in the NMWC system are tested weekly to ensure appropriate levels are maintained. We do not add fluoride to our water.
NMWC is currently compliant with all applicable state and federal drinking water standards.
